A Balanced Fund holds a diversified portfolio of different types of securities: bonds, stocks, and money market securities.
The fund manager will re-balance the proportion of these categories of investments to take advantage of changing market conditions. Balanced funds provide a good foundation for any portfolio regardless of age.
- BALANCED (CC&L) PCB This Fund invests in a combination of Canadian stocks, foreign stocks and Canadian government and corporate bonds. The Fund’s investment philosophy is capital preservation while providing superior long term performance through a consistent and disciplined investment process. Through in-depth analysis the Fund manager looks for risk/reward trade-offs in the marketplace and in each asset class.
GLOBAL INCOME (Sentry) AGGI - The Fund seeks to provide a combination of current income and capital preservation with the potential for capital appreciation by investing prudently in an actively managed, diversified portfolio of global equity and fixed-income securities. The fund may use derivatives, such as options, futures, forward contracts and swaps and may invest, in aggregate, and up to 10% of its net assets in ETFs. The fund uses a blend of value and growth styles to maximize diversification during market cycles.
PARTNERS (DYNAMIC) DYPF Seeks to maximize returns and provide long-term growth of capital consistent with preserving capital and providing income by investing primarily in a full range of equity and fixed-income securities. The Portfolio Manager’s investment philosophy represents a patient, commonsense approach to investing with an objective to assemble a portfolio of reasonably priced quality securities that will both preserve and grow investor savings. The investment team carefully screens thousands of businesses in search of those that demonstrate strong fundamental characteristics, but which are trading at discounts to intrinsic value. Following this initial screening process, they employ a rigorous and detailed analysis of each candidate business to ensure it meets investment criteria. Each portfolio invests in a limited number of businesses with proven track records, sustainable competitive advantages and superior management teams.
INCOME GROWTH (TRIMARK) TRIG To generate capital growth and income over the long term. The Fund invests primarily in: Canadian equities; fixed-income securities of Canadian issuers, both government and corporate; foreign equities and fixed-income securities up to the maximum allowable foreign content limit. The firm combines the skills of both the equity and fixed income teams within this Fund. For the equity portion, the Fund managers engage in extensive research to find growth-oriented companies that represent excellent value. The fixed income team uses a long-term approach to investing across all fixed-income markets.
